Brick Kiln Workers
This is a photo book on brick workers of India. Over the past two decades India has seen a real economic boom. As a result, the brick making industry has grown rapidly. India is now the second largest producer of bricks in the world. But the industry is largely unregulated making it a hot bed for exploitation of labour. This book exposes the working conditions of the workers where child labour is used and many end up as bonded labour.
This collection of photographs in the book show the men, women and children living and working in harsh conditions to eke out an existence.
Time Out in Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is a stretch of Italian coastline made of 5 villages (Five Lands) consisting of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Perched high on sloping terrain with rocky coastlines and a backdrop of lush hills makes for a picture postcard setting. Ancient footpaths through vineyards along the slopes of the hills and a railway line along the coast join all the villages.
All images in this book were taken candidly in Cinque Terre over several days in August 2019. My intention was to capture the essence of Cinque Terre as a place where people come to take time out from their daily life.
